Vacation!!!

The end of the school year is a whirlwind of activity and this year was no exception given that the Tuesday after we got out, we were headed out for the big family vacation. We went to Georgia and Alabama for two weeks (one week in each place) to visit family and check out the local sights. We were a large crew - Jason, me, Kyler, Kassidy, Konner, Granddaddy, Grammy, G-mama, Uncle Jeremy, Aunt Amanda, and Juliette. That is a lot of people to get going in the same direction at the same time, but it was worth it. We had a great time (despite a little bickering here and there - we're family, what did ya expect!) and got to spend some great time with both sides of our extended family.

We did sooooo many things, there is no way I can include them all (and the way cute pics) in one post, so I will share with you a little bit at a time what all we did during the past two weeks.

For today, here is the day we flew out and our visit the next day to the town of Cartersville, Georgia.

We got up way before the crack of dawn to catch an early flight to the Atlanta airport. Konner and Kassidy needed to have there own seat on the plane since they are two years old, and boy did they look small in that big seat. Flying was uneventful (nice) and so was the drive to Marietta. We were planning on doing some grocery shopping but the pool was much too inviting. We all dived in for a little swim and play time. It was then dinner time followed by Elizabeth's homemade pound cake. It was oh, so yummy! (Recipe is a family secret, so no asking!) We were already on "Georgia time" since we had gotten up so early and sleep came very fast that night.
We decided to take it kinda slow the next day and drove a few miles north to Cartersville to check out the Booth Museum of Western Art which housed a great children's area. Blair was able to tag along, and my kids couldn't have been happier. We checked out all the art before having lunch and then letting the kids loose in the children's area. There were games to play, a stagecoach to ride, clothes to try on, and much more. We were the only ones down there for a majority of the time and all the kids (big and small) had a great time. It was a good start to the vacation.
