Boogie Down

(Sorry blogging hasn't been as frequent lately. Work, plus my "part time" job tutoring, topped with calculus homework and oh, yeah, trying to be the mom have left me so so tired!) Here is a silly post of the kids getting their groove on a week or so back. Kassidy really does have a knack for performing and Konner is truly a "white boy" with no rythym - it cracks me up. Have a smile watching! (Just ignore the part at the end when Kyler decides to pester Konner.)

Earth Walk

Each March the city sponsors an Earth Walk at a local park highlighting what we can do to help the earth. We were able to go this year and the kids had a great time. They filled up their "passports" with stamps they got at each booth, got lots of little free trinkets and pencils, got to cook and eat a s'more, got to visit with the Woody the Lakewood tree, got to do some art projects, and even got to visit a lizard, snake, tortoise and a bearded dragon. Whew! Take a peak...

A LOT to Thank God For

We have the kids say prayers every night when we tuck them in. Konner's goes like this: "Dear God, thank you for mommy, daddy, g-mama, Jesus, amen." Kyler's like this: "Dear God, thank you for mommy and daddy and grammy and granddaddy and g-mama. And thank you for helping me be a very, very good, good, good boy at school. In Jesus' name, amen." Kassidy's on the other hand, well you'll have to hear it to understand. They are like this EVERY night - the little chatterbox - maybe, we are related!!
(It was so long I had to break up the video so it would load. Enjoy her silliness!)
We begin...

Then...

And then...

Some more...

A little bit more...

And finally...

Go, Granddaddy, Go!

Last Saturday morning my dad participated in a 10K run put on by the city of Lakewood. The route went right down the street by our house so he invited up to some cheer him on. Knowing that I could not just simply cheer for him, Kyler and I made some signs the night before to encourage him (btw - the "Keep Up" sign was totally Kyler's idea!). We ended up getting to the corner before the fist runner even came by, so we started clapping and cheering for all the people who passed us by. The front runners were much to serious to care about us, but the rest of the runners appreciated our encouragement. In fact after granddaddy passed us by (after a hug and kiss from each of the kids), we decided to stay until the last runner came by. Kyler had the "Lookin' Good" sign and many a lady gave him a big thanks and a smile for the compliment - he was eating it up! One guy commented to Kyler that he hadn't been called that in years which made us all smile. It only took about 40 minutes for them all to pass by us and it was a great, unplanned, heart-warming way to start our day. We will for sure next year be hanging out on the corner again - but next time we are going to have bigger signs!!

Imagination Movers!

As part of the kids Valentine gifts this year we got them tickets to see the Imagination Movers in concert. All the kids just love these guys (and I must admit I love them too!). They have a show on Disney channel and sometimes take their show out on the road. We drove up to the Nokia Theater in LA to see the concert. We were moving a grooving and dancing the whole time! Konner and Kylers's favorite part was a special guest "Eddie," a monster who is in one of their episodes and Kassidy's was Nina (really the only girl on the show). It was a cool event to take the kids to and they couldn't stop talking about 'Magination Movers for days. Jason and I also had a really good time (and Jason only once considered trading his ticket for a ticket to the Kings game happening at the Staples Center right across the street with a small kid who passed by!).

When Left Alone

A few Fridays back, Kyler had gone to spend the night at Grammy and Granddaddy's and I was home alone with Konner and Kassidy. I was grading papers or doing homework and so they were left to play by themsleves in the living room. I don't get to see just the two of them play very much, since when I am home, so is Kyler, but they are something to see. They don't fight with each other. There is no pestering. Just nice playing and helping each other out. Here are some of the sweet things they say to each other.
Kassidy: Konner I made you some pancakes. They are your favorite. Blue.
Konner: Oh, thank you. Uh-oh, a big mess. I will get it.
Kassidy: Konner come and save me.
Konner: Hold on. I am coming.
Kassidy: Be careful hun.
They are a riot.
Another thing they keep doing is building "bridges" in the living room. This consists of a continuous chain/parade of whatever they can find - toys (big and small), books, shoes, rainboots, pillows, anything. They make a big circle with only one "entrance." I took a picture of the one they made that night. Silly, huh?

Bowled Over

For President's Day a few Mondays back, we decided the thing to do that day was go bowling. I had some boring things to do in the morning, like tutor a student and go grocery shopping, and a small issue with Konner's ear popping because he had developed an ear infection followed by a quick trip to the doctor, so the kids were chomping at the bit to go bowling since we had talked it up the day before. We met up with Uncle Jeremy, Aunt Amanda and Juliette for a game and a yogurt treat afterwards. I think we haven't been bowling in a while, so I am blaming my very poor performance on that. The power trio of Konner, Kassidy and Juliette beat both me and Kyler. We had a great time, all the kids just loved it. We should make this bowling activity happen more often. I am itching for a rematch!!
