A Buggy Good Time

Two of our good friends, Caitlin and Crystal, have kids around the same ages as mine. Caitlin is a bit in the crafty side and has been brainstorming about doing some day camps with our kids next summer. But not being ones to let a good idea go to waste, she wanted to give the idea a test run this summer. So we went to the park for a bug themed morning and lunch.
First they read some bug books and learned what makes a bug a bug. Then they went on a bug hunt, digging in the grass and dirt to see what they could find and then compared their treasures with each other.

Next was the craft portion of the morning where all the kids got to make their very own caterpillar.......plus a cocoon to put the caterpillar in......so that he could turn into their very own beautiful butterfly.We even enjoyed some "ants on a log" snacks to end the very fun day.

We had a really great morning and can't wait to see what great things we will come up for next summer.
